JOHANNESBURG – Police are searching for two suspects believed to be involved in the armed robberies of people travelling to and from OR Tambo International Airport.

There was a shootout last night between officers and four men on the N12 near Kempton Park.

Police had stopped the group’s BMW which matched the description of a hijacked vehicle.

Their two accomplices managed to run away.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Vish Naidoo said, “We found in the vehicle one person who had died and a second person is reportedly injured and hospitalised. The police found three firearms at the scene, they will now be sent for ballistic testing to establish whether they were used in the commission of any other crimes.”
